And we got there. It tough sledding but 2021 has less than 24 hours to go. This time last year I bemoaned lock downs, isolations and work zoom parties. Unfortunately 2021 still contained a lot of these, but hey, it wasn't all doom and gloom. Festivals and gigs returned. Some lucky folks got in some travel and on a personal note, I feel like we brought out two of our strongest collections yet.
With the return of gigs, came the return of some mad good albums. In fact the reason this post is so close to the end of the year is because voting was the tightest yet for Fuckeries Album of the Year. British post punk exploded with gems from Squid, Idles, Black Country New Country and new comers Dry Cleaning. Two of my all time favourite but vastly different artists Tyler and Parquet Courts had great new albums.
Parquet Courts was my most anticipated album of the year. It didn't disappoint
As tight as it was, this year it came down to 3 albums from 3 Fuckeries faves. All three were on high rotation at Flaash HQ and many t-shirts were folded to them.
Arlo Parks - Collapsed in Sunbeams, Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert. and Shame - Drunk Tank Pink.
They all slap and if we could award them all then we would. But as we all know there can only be one winner and for me Little Simz just edges it. It's just a banger of a great album from start to finish. Soulful Hip-Hop featuring groovy afro beats and interludes by The Crown's Emma Crown, you have to listen to this album from start to finish.
Little Simz take a bow. Congratulations, Your are the proud owner of Fuckeries 2021 Album of the Year.
Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert is the 2021 Fuckeries Album Of The Year
As mentioned above there are some mighty tunes that came out this year and I'm sure I missed loads. Below you will find 21 Tunes for 2021. Enjoy these while folding your t-shirts like I do.
Happy New Year!
